Our Story
A note from the HOOK Owner- Lynn Moore
Thank you for checking out our new and improved website! With over 10,000 different products in our brick & mortor store in Telluride, it was a daunting task to say the least. The goal this time around was to accomplish two things: first, offer all of our best-selling items, even if that includes some of our funnier, more off-color merchandise. After all, it is what folks have come to expect here in the shop (be sure and visit our F-Bomb tab). The second goal was to make you, the online shopper, feel like you are shopping at Hook in person. We’ll keep adding fresh photos of the shop, including pics of our two-legged and four-legged customers that help give Hook its distinct personality. Many of our product images will be taken with our cell phone cameras using our own reclaimed wood shelves as a backdrop. It’s been a labor of love, I owe a debt of gratitude to Marcus, Patrick and Katy who keep gently and patiently pushing me along.
I moved to Telluride from Biddeford, Maine in the fall of 1987, one month after the Grateful Dead performed on a makeshift stage in Telluride Town Park. My well over 30 year journey in this town has been a long, strange trip indeed. I’ve worked for the Telluride Ski Resort in the early days, watching with wonder as buildings were built and trails were cleared for skiers. I’ve been in the music festival business here, and for those who don’t know Telluride’s live music history - it is pretty amazing. I’ve raised three wonderful kids (how lucky are they to be born and raised in Telluride) Katy, Taylor and Gage. I have witnessed the dramatic development of this once mining town, all the while experiencing my own growth and life changes throughout the years.
The idea for Hook Telluride began as a way to draw folks into an otherwise average home decor and gift shop. Everyone needs a hook, right? Although I can say that I like hooks just fine, I have unleashed a passion within me for constantly searching, discovering and BUYING new products for the shop. I am the luckiest person in the world, doing what brings me incredible joy. When I hear customers belly laughing the same way I laugh when I select greeting cards for the shop, as hokey as it may sound - I am filled with gratitude.
Happy shopping, and thank you for your support.
